Music on the Mount will feature ‘Christmas Brass'

December 13, 2011

"Music on the Mount," a concert series in partnership with Saint Mary of the Mount Parish, 403 Grandview Avenue, is planning a concert filled with sounds of the season.

The concert will take place Sunday, Dec. 18 at 3 p.m. Titled "Christmas Brass," the concert will feature the Iron City Brass Quintet performing favorite tunes. Admission is free, and all are welcome.

The Music on the Mount series began in the fall of 2008, Saint Mary of the Mount wanted to build a stronger bond with Duquesne University. Christine Jordanoff, director of choral organizations at Duquesne (and a parishioner and cantor at Saint Mary of the Mount Parish), created the idea of a concert series that would take place at Saint Mary of the Mount and feature small ensembles from Duquesne's Mary Pappert School of Music.

Music on the Mount is in its third season of partnership. Each concert is an opportunity for a small ensemble to perform in a professional setting, which was a goal set by Edward Kocher, the dean of the Mary Pappert School of Music. The concert series also strives to give back to the community.

Every concert is free and offers quality music concerts available and accessible to the Mount Washington community.
