Carrick residents asked to display their gardens in council's showcase

The Carrick Community Council is now taking applications for participation in the 2011 Carrick Goes Gardening Showcase. The new format for this year will be a celebration of all the varieties of gardens in Carrick, whether they are large and grand or small and simple.

The primary goal of the Gardening Showcase is to highlight the beauty of the homes and neighborhoods. It was noted, all who participate in this project contribute positively to the quality of life in Carrick.

Participants in the 2011 Carrick Goes Gardening Showcase will have photos of their garden featured at the September meeting of the Carrick Community Council and online at http://www.carrick and will receive additional modest tokens of appreciation for their efforts.

To support ongoing beautification in Carrick, the Carrick Community Council is asking for a $5 donation to participate in Carrick Goes Gardening Showcase this year. For current 2011 members of the Carrick Community Council no additional donation is expected.

Applications for the Carrick Goes Gardening Showcase are online at, at the Carrick Branch of the Carnegie Library and at Senator Jay Costa's office on Brownsville Road. The deadline to apply is June 30.
