Brandon Matchett, 12, of South Side won the boys national championship and Bailey Narr, 11, of Lawrence-ville won the girls national championship at the 88

th National Marbles Tournaments in Wildwood, N.J.

This is the second time in three years that both winners have been from the same location - Allegheny County. Coincidentally, 36 years ago was the first time both division winners were from the same location, and both were from Allegheny County.

 Thirteen year old Jordan Narr of Lawrenceville finished as a runner up and Ben Eddings finished as a semi-finalist in the boys division. Both Emily Cavacini, 9, of Shaler Township, and Brooke Narr were semi-finalists in the girls division.

 "Mibsters," or marble shooters, played more than 1,200 games over the four-day tournament to compete for national honors, college scholarships and numerous prizes and awards.

 Allegheny County's Marbles Program has a produced a number of national champions. Last year, Penelope Bauer of Pittsburgh was crowned the girls national champion. In 2008, John Leffakis of Lawrenceville was crowned the boys national champion and Amber Ricci of Glenshaw was crowned the girls national champion.

Alexandra Bauer of Bloomfield was the girl's national champion in 2007, and Keith Moss of the South Side was crowned boys national champion in 2006. Jamie Miller of South Side was crowned boys national champion in 2005, and his cousin, Carly Miller, was girls national champion in 2004.
