Day Reporting Center making its mark in keeping neighborhoods clean

Allegheny County Adult Probation Day Reporting Center has begun its annual clean-up sessions for 2011.

April 30 was the kick-off event in the City of Pittsburgh's Arlington neighborhood where more than 50 court appointed volunteers participated along-side probation staff, supervisors, and managers. Several piles of trash were removed from sidewalks, vacant lots, and wooded areas.

The City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works took the necessary efforts to see that all trash was removed from the neighborhood in a timely fashion. The Day Reporting Center, though located in the Arlington Neighborhood, has provided volunteers for various neighborhood projects located within Zone 3 of the City of Pittsburgh for the past two years and will continue to do so.

Frank Scherer, a former resident of Arlington, is manager of center, and Nicole Ballard, a former resident of Beltzhoover, is the on-site supervisor, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the center. In addition to providing community service to clients, the center also provides Anger Management Classes, Case Management Services, G.E.D. Classes, Job Readiness/Job Search Classes, and Life-Skills Training.

Alcoholics Anonymous Sessions are held every Tuesday evening and Narcotics Anonymous Sessions are held every Thursday evening at the center located at 2320 Arlington Avenue.

For more information on the center, contact Nicole Ballard at 412-431-1387.
