Carrick Spring Redd-up on April 16
April 5, 2011
"It's that time of year again, to make our neighborhood clean from the winter litter. This is the perfect chance to find the trash that gets blown into tight spaces while the trees are still bare," said Dawn Harder, organizer of the litter patrol. "There has been an amazing response to this event but we could use your help too. It is important every volunteer know they are valued, and what matters to you matters to us."
According to Ms. Harder, they have areas that are level and easy to clean for those with mobility limitations. They also need volunteers to man the sign-in booth, a no stress job where sitting is welcome.
Trash Bags, gloves and bottle water will be provided. Those coming to pick up litter should wear comfortable clothes, shoes, and sun screen.
The Carrick Litter Patrol is also asking everyone to wear a green shirt, any color of green, any style of shirt. According to Ms. Harder, this is a way to let the community know they are a team, using a hands-on approach, unified in improving the litter problem.
This is a community event, everyone is welcome and needed to help make the neighborhood clean and safe.
Rain day or bad weather options: They will clean if it's a drizzle, but heavy rain and thunder or snow with temperatures below 28 will cancel plans for that day. In the event of bad weather, they will postpone the Redd-up event to the following Saturday, May 2, same time, same place same plan.
