Public hearings on restaurant rating system on March 16, 30


The Allegheny County Board of Health has scheduled two public hearings this month to accept comments on proposed changes to the Health Department's food safety regulation, including a new system for rating restaurants.

The hearings will be held on Wednesday, March 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., and on Wednesday, March 30, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Clack Health Center, Building 7, 301 Thirty-Ninth Street, Lawrenceville,

Testimony at the hearings must be scheduled in advance, by calling 412-578-8008, no later than 4 p.m. the day before each hearing.  Speakers are limited to five minutes and will be asked to submit a written copy of their testimony.

Those unable to attend the hearings may submit comments via email, fax or mail to: ; 412-578-8325; Allegheny County Board of Health, 3333 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.  The deadline for submitting comments is March 30.

The revised regulation and restaurant rating system are posted on the Health Department's web site, http://www.achd. net, and also available for public review Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Health Department's Main Office, 3333 Forbes Avenue, Oakland, and its Food Safety Division, Clack Health Center, Building 1, 40th Street and Penn Avenue, Lawrenceville. 

The Board of Health will consider all public comments before finalizing and voting on the revised regulation and restaurant rating system.
