Plans continue for Mt. Oliver Community Days

Plans for the 2010 Mount Oliver Community Days Celebration are taking shape.

This year, the four-day event will take place from Wed., July 14 through Sat., July 17 at Transverse Park. Festivities for the annual event include the Midway Carnival with rides and games for children of all ages; volunteer groups will sponsor games of skill and chance; and, nightly entertainment on the lower field.

The celebration will conclude with the always much anticipated fireworks extravaganza by Zambelli Internationale on Saturday night.

According to Ralph Woods, treasurer for Mount Oliver Community Days, the event uses no public money to put on the festival each year. However, this year the slumping economy has affected fund raising efforts significantly.

Those who are interested in ensuring the success of Community Days are encouraged to send a donation to: Mount Oliver Community Days, 201 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh PA, 15210.
