Hard to Recycle Collection


The Allegheny County Health Department and the Pennsylvania Resources Council are sponsoring a drop-off collection event for electronic waste and other hard-to-recycle items on Sat,, June 26.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 pm., in the parking lot at the Mall at Robinson.

The following items will be accepted for a nominal fee:

Tire with no rim, $2; TV/Monitor 15" and under, $10; TV/Monitor 16"-19", $15; TV/Monitor 20"-39", $25; TV/Monitor 40" or greater or console TV, $50; CPU, laptop or home phone, $3; small printer/scanner/fax, $5; computer mouse or keyboard, $1; VHS/DVD/small UPS/router, $5; stereo/small appliance, $5; CPU with hard drive destruction, $8.

No fees will be charged for cell phones, ink and toner cartridges, compact fluorescent light bulbs, alkaline batteries, crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs and useable building materials such as unopened bags of grout/cement, lumber without nails and unbroken bricks.

Health officials assure that medical supplies will be collected for reuse and that electronic waste will be refurbished or recycled in a way that protects public health and the environment from exposure to toxic chemicals.
