December 29, 2009

Pittsburgh Roosevelt students, teachers and family crowed into the Carrick High School cym for a Holiday season concert. Nearly 500 students made the neighborhood trip to sing holiday songs. Each grade level featured a song in a foreign language.

Pittsburgh Roosevelt Elementary school children made December The Most Wonderful Time of The Year.

With the support of their music teacher, Rebecca Schrader, students in grades Kindergarten to fifth grade serenaded incoming crowds at Pittsburgh Carrick High School on Friday, Dec. 11. The efforts of Mrs. Schrader and staff of Pittsburgh Roosevelt allowed for all 490 students to be bused to Carrick High School to practice and perform their Holiday show.

Each grade level performed selected songs in the Carrick High School Gymnasium. Family and friends gathered in the gym to delight in the ambiance of the Holiday season. The students performed classic songs including Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Winter Wonderland, Up on the Housetop, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Joy to the World, Silver Bells, Amen, Children, Go Where I Send Thee, Jingle Bells, and several folk songs.

Each grade level sang a different holiday song in a foreign language. Their delightful melodies of Christmas, Hanukah, and Feliz Navidad spread much cheer and warmed the hearts of many. At the close of each performance the audience was invited to sing along.

The families and staff of Pittsburgh Roosevelt sent out special thanks to the Carrick School community for hosting the performance in their gym.
