Pilot Club preparing for Brain Power Walk in October
On October 3 the Pilot Club of Pittsburgh is preparing to join Pilots all over the world for the Brain Power Walk. Pilot Clubs will be walking to showcase the Brain Power of Pilot Clubs as they affect their local communities through service and education.
In keeping with the service focus of Pilot International, the Pilot Club of Pittsburgh will participate in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk® for their participation in the Brain Power Walk.
Pilots are looking for team members for the one mile walk at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium on Saturday, Oct. 3. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the walk will start at 9 a.m.
Team members will raise funds that benefit the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Those who can not attend the walk but would still like to support the Pilot Club's team and support a better life for those living with Alzheimer's are asked to call club president Henry Hegerle at 412-381-4989.
The Pilot Club of Pittsburgh funds the BrainMinders™ program and other service projects through various fundraising and donations. Their annual benefit "Fall For Fashion" will be held on October 17. Early discount tickets are available now through September 12. They are currently taking orders for Enjoy Coupon Books and their hoagie sale, selling hoagies made by Schwartz Market. The next hoagie sale is September 22 and 23. Italian and turkey 12 inch hoagies are available for $5 each. The Pilot Club is also publishing a community cookbook, "The Pilot Pantry" which will be available in September for $10. They are looking for businesses to help promote and sell the cookbook.
The Pilot Club of Pittsburgh meets one Saturday a month, 11:00 am at Amalfi on Tenth, next to the Holiday Inn Express in South Side; the next meeting is on September 12. New members are always welcomed.
