Market House registering for indoor hockey

December 16, 2008

The Market House Children's Athletic Association, South Side, will hold registrations for the upcoming winter indoor hockey program for boys and girls ages 4-13 on January 5, 8 and 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the gym at the Market House. A $20 fee per child is required at the time of registration, and there will be required fundraising for all participants.

The program will start January 13 with a period of instruction and scrimmage games prior to the regular season. Age brackets will be determined based on final registrations. All games will be played on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday at 5 p.m. Each team will play one or two games per week with the youngest playing first.

Required equipment consists of a helmet, stick, gloves and shin pads. All players are responsible for their own hockey equipment. The season will close with an awards banquet in April or early May.

Additional information and registrations will be available for those interested in learning to skate and in ice hockey. Registrations will be accepted for the Steel City Slapshots, a travel dek hockey program sponsored by the MHCAA for players 7-15 years old, and the Carrick Cougars Ice Hockey Club, for students in grades 6-12. You do not have to live in Carrick or attend the high school to be eligible for the Cougars.

The Market House is at 15 Bedford Square just below 12th and Carson streets. Call 412-488-8390 for more information.
