Walkers needed for joining an new old walking group

August 12, 2008

The Hilltop Health Ministries is interested in restarting the “Walking in the Way” group that walked the trail on South Side a few years ago.

The walkers followed a route that began at the South 18th Street entrance to the trail and went for as long as people wanted to walk. The walking program was for whole person wellness-balancing and energizing body and soul.

“We walk together rather than compete. We encourage each other and keep each other accountable. We will add up all our miles to reach a “destination.” It is more fun to walk with a group of people,” said Hilltop Health Ministries Parish Nurse Debbie Koch, RN.

They plan to meet at least two times weekly- perhaps Tuesdays and Thursdays - at a time of day when most could meet. In the past this has been in the early evening. Ms. Koch plans to begin this 8-10 week program after Labor Day.

Any one needing more information, or interested in participating in this walk, should call Ms. Koch at 412-381-8300 ext. 20.
