Public hearing set for CYF Needs-Based Plan


The Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) and Juvenile Court will hold a public hearing on Monday, July 28 at 1 p.m. in the Gold Room, Fourth Floor, County Courthouse, Grant Street.

The purpose of the public hearing is to obtain comments on the DRAFTS of the 2009-2010 CYF Needs-Based Plan and Budget, and the Integrated Children's Services Plan that will be presented to the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.

Copies of the Needs-Based Plan and Budget are available at the Allegheny County Juvenile Court, 550 Fifth Avenue, Downtown and at the Department of Human Services, One Smithfield Street, Fourth floor, Downtown. It can also be accessed on the DHS web site,

The Integrated Children's Services Plan includes a comprehensive strategy to coordinate children's services provided by the Department of Human Services and Juvenile Court. These services include mental health, mental retardation, developmental disabilities, drug and alcohol, child welfare, and juvenile justice and probation. It is available from the above mentioned sources.

Persons wishing to provide comments on either plan are asked to call 412-350-6897 (TTY 412-350-5205) by July 24 to be placed on the agenda. Testimony presented at the hearing, or other comments regarding the plans, should be submitted in writing at the hearing site or delivered to the Department of Human Services, Office of Community Relations, One Smithfield St., Pittsburgh, PA 15222 no later than July 31.
