Climb Pittsburgh adds new challenges

March 11, 2008

The American Lung Association is extending two new challenges as part of the March 29 Climb Pittsburgh II event. The challenges target two groups of individuals who are particularly interested in this type of event - firefighters and fitness enthusiasts.

Climb Pittsburgh's Fastest Firefighter Team honors will be awarded to a firefighter team of at least four members that can demonstrate their abilities to get to the top of the Gulf Tower (760 steps) in the least amount of time. Along with the title, the team of climbers will receive medals, “bragging rights” and a trophy. The trophy will be kept in the winning fire house until it is time to defend the title next year.

Similarly, Climb Pittsburgh's Best Fitness Team will be recognized as a team of climbers, all from the same fitness center, who are out to prove that their center provides the best workout.

Other award categories will include: Fastest individual male, fastest individual female, top individual fundraiser and top fundraising team.

In addition to the challenge groups, corporate and family teams as well as individuals are encouraged to participate. The climb is a timed event, but more importantly it is a test of endurance and the recognition of the struggles of those with lung disease.

Complete details about the challenges as well as all event information can be found at Register early as space is limited to 400 climbers. Non-competitors can sponsor a step or a floor to honor or memorialize someone with lung disease.
