Brashear joining with Curves to help stock food pantries

February 26, 2008

For a third year, The Brashear Association is joining with the South Side franchise of Curves, 30 Minute Fitness and Weight Loss Center, in the Curves International Inc.'s eighth annual "Curves Food Drive" to benefit local food banks. Donations collected at the South Side club will again benefit the Brashear Association's two area food pantries.

Anyone who joins Curves between March 3-15 may bring a bag of groceries to have the normal service fee waived. In addition, community members are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items at Curves, 2302 Jane Street, Monday through Saturday during business hours throughout the month of March.

Last year, the Curves food drive collected nearly a ton of food for the Brashear Association. Each month the two food pantries serve more than 450 individuals. For information on Brashear's food pantries, call 412-431-2236. The Brashear Association is a United Way agency.
