Volunteers still needed for StepTrek

The South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association is about to have the seventh annual StepTrek to celebrate the South Side Slopes. StepTrek 2007 is happening on Sunday, Oct. 14 at noon.

The registration area will remain open until 4 p.m. at the UPMC South Side parking lot at 21st & Josephine Streets.

SSSNA is seeking community volunteers to help from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We would be grateful to have help throughout the day. Any amount of time that you can offer is appreciated. There are a variety of volunteer jobs to be done. These include putting up tents, registering Trekkers, handing out shirts and pedometers, cutting fruit, handing out water at one of the four water stations, putting up direction arrows and greeting our guests.

All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and are welcome to walk the routes, free of charge.

To volunteer, you can come to the SSSNA meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. at the St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center, call 412-488-0486, or email Misi.Bielich@ SouthSideSlopes.org. There will be a volunteer meeting on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at 126 Pius Street for information and shirt distribution.
