What's for Dinner? opening at Silver Eye Center Sept. 29

September 18, 2007

An opening reception for What's for Dinner? Photographs by Diana Shearwood will be Saturday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. at Silver Eye Center for Photography, 1015 E. Carson Street, South Side.

Quebec photographer Diana Shearwood's photographs are large-format color inkjet prints that document trucks and the huge advertising photographs that embellish them as they travel cross-country to deliver food miles away from where it has been grown. Once the viewer realizes that the images are wrapped around 18-wheeler trucks, it sets in motion a thought process about the food we eat, how it is delivered to us and more.

Ms. Shearwood's work has taken her to all over the world to photograph streets and people. Her images have been exhibited in Canada and the United states and have been published in various books and magazines. Her forthcoming book FOOD will be launched with a signing at Silver Eye in November.
