Time to re-register for Do Not Call List
August 7, 2007
State Sen. Wayne D. Fontana is urging Pennsylvanians who currently subscribe to the ‘Do Not Call” list to re-register before their number is deleted from the list as required by law.
The Pennsylvania Do Not Call law, which was passed in 2002 to give telephone subscribers (residential landlines and wireless phones) the opportunity to avoid unwanted telemarketing calls, provides valid registration for only five years from the date of initial registration.
Because the list is updated quarterly, citizens who registered in 2002 will need to re-register by September 15 in order to keep their registration from expiring November 1.
“It's important for Pennsylvania citizens who registered for the list in 2002 to re-register so they can continue being uninterrupted by telemarketers,” Sen. Fontana said.
One million Pennsylvanians registered for the Do Not Call list during the first two weeks after the law was enacted. Over the last five years, millions more have registered.
