Seniors can pick up checks to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at senior ctrs.


The Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) provides eligible Pennsylvania citizens with checks to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, grown or growable in Pennsylvania at their local Farmers' Market.

Eligibility Guidelines: Allegheny County residents 60 plus years of age ( proof is needed) with total 2006 Net Income - $18,889 (single individual) and $25,327 (married).

Checks for this program will be distributed as follows:

Allentown Senior Center (Kaufmann Center), 2201 Salisbury Street, Tuesday, July 10 from 10 a.m. –noon;

Allentown Senior Center (Hilltop Center), 631 E. Warrington Avenue, Wednesday, July 11 from 10:00 a.m. (until they are gone);

Elder-ado (Carrick), 2019 Brownsville Road (Lower level of the Zion Christian Church), Tuesday, July 10 from 9:00 a.m. (until they are gone);

Elder-ado (Knoxville), 320 Brownsville Road, Wednesday, July 11 from 9:00 a.m. (until they are gone); and,

Elder-ado (McKinley Park (Belzhoover)), 900 Delmont Avenue, Thursday, July 12 from 11:00 a.m. (until they are gone).

Any eligible consumer who is unable to get to the distribution centers, can obtain a proxy sheet at the Allentown Senior Center, 631 E. Warrington Avenue or Elder-Ado, 320 Brownsville Road, to be filled out and signed prior to distribution dates. A neighbor or friend can bring the proxy sheet to the distribution centers for receipt of checks.
