South Side planning to stuff shoppers' stockings

As part of the Main Street on East Carson program, South Side Local Development Company is planning a December 9 retail event called Stuff Your Stocking on the South Side. From 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., shoppers will receive stocking imprinted shopping bags at event starting points (REI and Victorian Tea Room) and then visit participating retailers for sales and special promotions.

The event is intended to draw shoppers to the business district during the holiday season. Fifteen businesses from 10th to 28th streets have already signed up to participate. Any shops still interested in participating may do so by contacting Amy at 412-481-0651 by October 31. A $25 participation fee helps defray event costs. There is no charge to shoppers.

Restaurants are encouraged to offer specials to participating patrons. Events such as the South Side Home Tour demonstrate that people visiting the South Side for events stop for lunch or dinner while here (96 percent of home tour attendees surveyed planned to). Any questions, feel free to contact Amy at 412-481-0651.
