City Theatre launches the New American Trio series
September 12, 2006
Conceived by City Theatre Artistic Director Tracy Brigden, the New American Trio is a series of three brand-new plays and a constellation of activities that will be produced throughout City Theatre's 2006/07 season.
The events surrounding the New American Trio are designed to allow the City Theatre audience to have a hand in the creation of a new play. The New American Trio is sponsored by The Eden Hall Foundation.
The New American Trio plays include The Muckle Man (Jan. 25-Feb. 18) by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa; the world premiere of Mezzulah, 1946 (March 8-April 1) by Michele Lowe; and the world premiere of The Missionary Position (April 12 – May 13), a sharp-edged comedy commissioned by City Theatre from playwright Keith Reddin.
City Theatre will launch the New American Trio at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18 with Setting the Stage/Play in Progress 1. This event features the very first reading of The Missionary Position, followed by an audience discussion with playwright Keith Reddin. This kick-off event is free and open to the public.
