Entrepreneur Boot Camp will help veterans in business

State Sen. Wayne D. Fontana is urging veterans and their spouses who are looking to start their own business to attend the Entrepreneur Boot Camp Seminars.

The event is being facilitated by Donn Nemchick, a U.S. Navy Veteran and advisor to entrepreneurs.

“This event is a low-cost seminar aimed at providing veterans with information on expanding or starting a business from a veteran's perspective.” Fontana said. “Veterans and their spouses who have been considering such a step can make an informed decision with the information provided at this seminar.”

Fontana added that there are approximately 4 million veteran-owned businesses in the United States and that the veteran success rate as business startups is high in comparison to non-veteran owned businesses.

“Veteran-owned businesses have enjoyed much success and longevity,” Fontana said. “This success helps economic growth in Pennsylvania, creating more jobs in the community.”

The Entrepreneur Boot Camp Seminars will feature components of starting a business, business plan dos and don'ts, information on government contracting for veterans, and much more.

The seminars will be held in two locations for the convenience of attendees:

· In Pittsburgh, Wednesday, May 24 at the Riverside Center for Innovation Training Room, 700 River Avenue

· In Washington, PA, Wednesday, May 31 at National City Bank, Training Room, 200 West Beau Street

Both seminars run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The cost is $15 per single registrant and $10 for each additional registrant. A continental breakfast will be served.

To register, veterans can call 412-648-1542 or 724-229-8078 or via email at

The seminars are co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers and the Veterans Corporation.
