Public invited to open house at Sylvania Place Apartments

The public is invited to an open house/health fair at Sylvania Place Apartments, 29 Sylvania Avenue, Beltzhoover on Saturday, July 30 from noon to 2 p.m. Refreshments will be provided, along with free health screenings and visitors can view an apartment and the facilities.
29 Sylvania Place is a rent-subsidized building that follows HUD regulated guidelines. Those with income that falls within the guidelines will be assessed 30 percent of adjusted gross income for rent and utilities. Interested parties will have a private, personal interview to discuss current income requirements.
Applicants must be age 62 or older. Sylvania Place has many amenities including a large front porch with benches, a community kitchen, activities room and lounge for fellowship.
Supportive Housing Management Services was established by Action-Housing, Inc. in 1990 to manage and ensure the delivery of compassionate, specialized services to residents of SHMS-managed housing who are elderly, frail and who have limited income.
SHMS also manages housing for persons with physical and mental health disabilities, families with low and moderate income, and women and children in crisis. SHMS aims to assist residents to live more independently than might be possible without supportive services.
