Get a ‘birds-eye-view' for pennies a pound
July 19, 2005
Pittsburghers of all ages will have a unique opportunity to see their hometown from a “birds-eye view” when Wings for Children presents the 12th Annual Fly Around Town for Pennies a Pound. The event will be Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin.
Guests pay just 20 cents for each pound they weigh to enjoy the thrill of touring the region at 1,100 feet. Flights include views of Kennywood Park, Heinz Field, PNC Park, the Cathedral of Learning, the Point and more.
There will be food available throughout the day plus activities for kids like the moonwalk, train ride, spin art and balloons
All proceeds from the weekend benefit Wings for Children, a local non-profit organization that provides free medical airlifts for children with life-threatening or chronic illnesses and disabilities. Fly around town is sponsored in part by Tom Clark Auto Family, Sam's Club, Futureflyersclub.com, WDUQ and Lamar. Call 412-469-9930 for more information.
