Area churches earn PHLF awards
November 16, 2004
Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation distributed its 2004 Historic Religious Properties Grants and Technical Assistance Awards at an annual awards ceremony in October at the Urban Mountain Gathering Place in Mount Washington.
The program, now in its ninth year, assists architecturally significant religious properties that provide social services in the neighborhoods, have a viable congregation, and are able to match the grant. Grants are to be used for architectural restoration projects on the structure.
A seminar preceded the awards and featured speakers offered information on preventive maintenance procedures and possible funding opportunities for religious institutions.
