The Market House Recreation Center on South Side has put together talented dek hockey teams to compete for city titles year in and year out.

For the second consecutive season the Market House's 10, 11, and 12 year old dek hockey team traveled outside of the city to participate in the Midwest Regional Tournament in Penn Hills, the Maple Leaf Cup in Niagara Falls, Canada and the Penguin Cup at Dek Star in the North Hills. The team swept through the Pittsburgh City B.I.G. League season taking the City Championship undefeated before finishing third, second and first respectively in the three tournaments.

The Market House sponsors three teams who heavily compete for the city championship every year. The 13-15 year old team has been crowned champ five of the last six years; the 9-10 year olds have taken first or second place four years straight.

Unlike other teams from around the country, the Market House Hockey Program starts teaching children the fundamentals of hockey at the age of four. Many, like those on the 10, 11, and 12 year old team, emerge as some of the nation's best. The Citiparks Market House Hockey Program begins in January.
