Students can apply for Peters scholarship

April 15, 2003

Brashear Association's Board of Directors is currently accepting applications for the Georgina Chamberlain Peters Scholarship, presented annually at the association's awards luncheon in September.

“Georgina Peters was a great supporter of Brashear and the communities and people we serve,” said Hugh Brannan, executive director of The Brashear Association. “She volunteered with the after school tutoring program and the food pantry. She also served on our board of directors.

“To all of these activities, she brought a sense of compassion and social justice. We miss her as a volunteer and as a friend. This scholarship recognizes folks like her who become involved in our agency and communities.”

To apply for the Peters Scholarship, applicants must submit a completed application form by June 15. Preference in selection will go to participants in any agency program, whether as recipients of services or as agency volunteers.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary training program or educational institution in a certificate or degree program; must show strong leadership skills; and must demonstrate a commitment to community services.

Contact Christine Gaus, program manager, at 431-2236 to request an application.

The Brashear Association is a United Way agency.
