February 27, 2018

Project Prom, the annual giveaway of prom attire to eligible high school students, begins on Saturday, March 3 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the National Council of Jewish Women’s Thriftique shop in Lawrenceville.

The gown giveaway continues Monday, March 5 through Wednesday, March 7 from 3-6 p.m .; Thursday, March 8 from 3-7 p.m .; and Saturday, March 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

To be part of the Project Prom, high school students must live in Allegheny County and qualify for a free or reduced school lunch. A student may also qualify if a household member is on active military duty or a veteran.

There will be an assortment of free, stylish dresses of all sizes and colors available. The teens will have plenty of options in brand-new and gently-used gowns. There also will be a selection of shoes and jewelry to accompany the dresses. Volunteers will be on hand to assist with the shopping experience. Preregistration is not required.

For more information about Project Prom, including how to donate, visit: http://www.alleghenycounty.us/dhs/PPGG. Project Prom is a project of the Department of Human Services (DHS) and its partner, the National Council of Jewish Women.
