DU tennis team aces South Side service

The Duquesne University Dukes Men's Tennis Team gave up their Saturday to volunteer with the South Side Chamber of Commerce at the South Side Welcome Center.

The Duquesne University Dukes Men's Tennis Team gave up their Saturday morning on October 28 to work a team community service project on the South Side. When the team arrived at the South Side Welcome Center, it was raining. But, they insisted the rain was not a deterrent, and they wanted to work in spite of the weather. This was great news for Candice Gonzalez, South Side Chamber of Commerce executive director, who gladly offered the good natured and energetic students an array of tasks to be done. The team donated about 25 hours of work, picking up litter along East Carson Street, organizing and bagging recycle discards, and staging the huge snowflake pole lights which they moved from storage to the South Side Welcome Center.
