The Opioid Crisis: A Community Gathering hosted at HMBFC

August 8, 2017

Addiction to heroin and other opioids has become a national crisis that touches everyone. It’s in our streets, in our schools, and in our homes.

Concerns about this threat are sometimes expressed as fear or anger towards those who are addicted. This can make it difficult to show them the compassion they need in order to experience healing from their addiction.

The Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community is hosting an open gathering for anyone who is looking to raise awareness, feel compassion, and take action about this health crisis on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Carmen Capozzi, a member of the governor’s Advisory Council on Drug & Alcohol Abuse, will lead the discussion along with representatives from Allegheny County and members of Sage’s Army, a nonprofit organization dedicated to drug addiction awareness and prevention that Mr. Capozzi founded.

There will be time for questions and discussions following the presentations. A collection will be taken at the end of the program from anyone who wants to support the work of Sage’s Army (www.sagesarmy.com).
