Peoples Gas new online tool lists all its projects

Peoples Natural Gas has launched a new online tool to provide timely information on the company’s pipeline construction and street restoration projects.

The interactive “Future Work” feature is housed on the Peoples website at http://www.peoples-gas.com/construction.

Peoples’ 20-year infrastructure improvement project, coupled with the company’s ongoing repair and installation work, adds up to hundreds of pipeline upgrades every year. The Future Work tool uses GIS mapping and user-friendly graphics to indicate construction and restoration that is planned, completed, or underway.

“People are busy,” explained Paul Becker, Peoples’ vice-president, construction. “They want to know at a glance what is going on with their street or in their neighborhood. This web-based tool allows customers and residents to quickly know what is happening, without taking the time to call customer service, and even after business hours.”

Future Work has the potential to impact hundreds of neighborhoods and tens of thousands of Peoples customers. A special two-week “look-ahead” feature allows customers to know what is coming and to plan accordingly.

“Although we try to minimize inconvenience for everyone, we want to remind people that the end result of our pipeline work is improved infrastructure and long-term benefits for both the environment and the community,” continued Mr. Becker. “We hope that our new web feature will keep the community informed and help reduce the impacts associated with construction and restoration.”
