Zone 3 community crime alerts for June 5-11

 


The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: June 5-11.

Duquesne Heights (1911)

Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)

Theft – 100 blk. Haberman Ave. - between 5/31/17 at 9:45 AM and 6/5/17 at 10 AM – Victim reported items stolen from her home. Items were a fur coat, winter coat, Rolex watches, other watches, and long sleeve dress shirts. Amount of loss is unknown.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Kearsarge St. - between 6/6/17 at 5:30 PM and 6/7/17 at 8:50 AM – Victim reported someone took quarters from his vehicle. There was no sign of forced entry. Loss $2.

Theft – 400 blk. Ruxton St. - 6/9/17 at 1:40 AM – Victim reported a known actor stole a Vizio 32" flat screen TV and a PS4 gaming system. Amount of loss is $600. Christian Hartung was arrested for the theft.

Theft – 200 blk. Cairo St. - between 6/6/17 at midnight and 6/8/17 at 6:30 PM – Victim reported her green reel style lawnmower was stolen. Loss is $130.

Robbery – 200 blk. Boggs Ave. - 6/8/17 at 2:41 AM – Victim was approached by 5 people and started "talking crap". A female grabbed him by the neck and put a box cutter to his chin (unopened). When the victim told the female it was not opened he was punched by a male. The suspects took his wallet and cash. The suspects are 4 white males and a white female all between 20 to 40 years old. One was 5'10" wearing a blue tie-die shirt. Another was 5'6" with a heavy build. Third one was thin wearing a Penguins baseball cap and white shirt with paint splatter on his clothes. The female had a black and pink sweat suit on. The last one had a bald or shaved head. Amount of loss is $55.

Theft – 200 blk. Lelia St. – 6/8/17 at 7 PM – Victim called to report a known person took money from her wallet. Loss is $100.

South Shore (1921)

South Side Slopes (1706, 1608)

Aggravated assault – 2500 blk. Josephine St. - 6/6/17 at 3:25 PM – Victim stated a black male (25 to 35 years old, medium build, black hair, dread locks, unshaven, and brown eyes) attempted to run over him and his dog. The victim then engaged in an argument. The black male (suspect) pointed a black semi-automatic pistol through the window at him. The car then fled the scene when the victim shouted the license plate number.

Burglary – 100 blk. Brosville St. - between 6/5/17 at 7 AM and 6/5/17 at 7 PM – Victim reported arriving home and noticing his belongings were tampered with inside of his home. Items taken were cash, watch, and wedding ring. Amount of loss is $20,700. Witnesses saw 2 black males in the area. The suspects are between 18-22 years old, one 6' with dread locks, and the other 5'6" with average build.

Theft from vehicle – 3200 blk. Josephine St. – between 6/6/17 at noon and 6/9/17 at 9:30 AM – Victims reported front passenger side window was broken out and multiple tools were stolen. Items taken were coins, Mikita impact drills, Mikita circular saw, Bosch saws-all (in blue bag), Senko brad nail gun, Hitachi angle finishing nail gun, Rigid finishing nail gun, Rotozip, Bosch hammer drill, multi tool, Mikita 4 ½" driver, Dewalt jigsaw (in black bag), Chicago pneumatic brad nail gun, Milwaukee box of 7 hole saws, Ryobi palm sander, saw blades, & grinder blades. Amount of loss is $2,133.

Theft from vehicle – 2200 blk. Salisbury St. – between 4:50 PM and 8 PM on 6/11/17 – Victim called to report his passenger side window was broken & items were stolen from his vehicle. Items were Alcotel cell phone, cash, credit card, & wallet. Amount of loss is over $100.

South Side Flats (1609, 1702)

Theft from vehicle – S.24th & Wharton St. - 6/2/17 at 5 PM – Victim called to report items stolen from his vehicle. The items stolen were an Actron auto scanner, breaking bar, half dollars, & pennies. Amount of loss is $372.50. A witness saw a white male (6'2" wearing a back pack, black shirt, & tan cargo pants) stealing items out of the vehicle. The suspect dropped skateboards out of his hands when witness tried to stop him.

Theft – 2500 blk. E. Carson St. - 6/6/17 at 5:15 AM – Victim stated a female pulled up in a white Jeep Cherokee and pried open mail boxes at this location. Amount of damage is unknown.

Theft from vehicle – 2100 blk. Sidney St. - between 6/5/17 at 8 PM and 6/6/17 at 9 AM – Victim reported items were stolen from his vehicle. The items were Ray Ban sunglasses, 2 checks, parking ticket, Chuck Taylor shoes, 2 headphones, iPhone charger, & Phillies baseball cap. Amount of loss is $180.

Theft from vehicle – 2100 blk. Sidney St. - between 6/7/17 at 8 PM and 6/8/17 at 9 AM – Victim reported someone had rifled through his vehicle. Nothing appears to have been taken.

Theft by deception – 100 blk. S. 6th St. - between 2/24/17 at 8:30 AM and 6/1/17 at 8 AM – An employee reported a known male from a construction company rented a Ford F250 for 11 weeks and gave a fictitious credit card number. The employee and company he works for have been contacted and the truck has been returned. However, no reimbursement for the rental has been made. Amount of loss to company is $5,851.28.

Stolen vehicle – 2000 blk. Fox Way – between 6/6/17 at 12:05 AM and 6/6/17 at 8:30 AM – Victim reported when he returned to where he parked his vehicle it was gone. The vehicle is a black 2016 Hyundai Elantra. The vehicle was recovered the next day.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. S. 4th St. - between 6/6/17 at 12:30 PM and 6/6/17 at 4:15 PM – Victim reported his gym bag, clothes, coffee mugs, & picture frame were stolen from his vehicle. The driver's side rear window was broken. The amount of loss is over $280.

Theft – 1100 blk. E. Carson St. - 6/7/17 at Noon – Victim was attending a class and left his wallet and phone on a table. The wallet & phone were taken. Items in the wallet were, state ID, cash, owner's cards for vehicles, credit card, & membership cards. The phone was an iPhone 6. The amount of loss is over $50.

Theft from vehicle – S. 18th St. Near dog park - 6/7/17 at 1 PM – Victim reported while at the above location a maroon minivan pulled up to her vehicle. When she returned to her car her purse had been stolen. The Ralph Lauren purse was tan with a matching wallet, state ID, debit card, credit card, prescription paperwork, & vitamins. Amount of loss is over $800.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. S. 12th St. - between 6/6/17 at 5:30 PM and 6/7/17 at 3:40 PM – Victim reported 2 knives being taken from his vehicle. Amount of loss is unknown.

Theft from vehicle – 2000 blk. Jane St. – between 6/9/17 at 8 PM and 6/10/17 at 3:15 PM – Victim reported items stolen from her vehicle. Items were Lulu lemon gym bag, Nike running shoes, Lulu lemon exercise leggings, Beats wireless headphones, & Honda multiple disk CD player. Amount of loss is $640.

Theft – 100 blk. S. 9th St. – between 6/9/17 at 5 PM and 6/10/17 at 5 PM – Victim reported her green Canondale mountain bike was stolen off of her porch. Loss is $541.11.

Theft from vehicle – 1300 blk. Breed St. – between 6/9/17 at 4 PM and 6/11/17 at 2:30 PM – Victim called to report his Ray Ban sunglasses and coins were stolen from his vehicle. Amount of loss if over $200.

Theft from vehicle – 1200 blk. Bingham St. – between 6/10/17 at 3 PM and 6/11/17 at 12:15 PM – Victim reported the right rear window of her vehicle was smashed and a gift bag, decorative plate, makeup, & toiletries were stolen. Amount of loss is unknown.

Theft from vehicle – 1900 blk. Larkins Way – between 6/10/17 at 9:30 PM and 6/11/17 at 10:15 AM – Victim reported his front passenger side window was shattered and items were stolen from his vehicle. The items were cash, gloves, & parking pass. Amount of loss is $84.

Aggravated assault – 1500 blk. E. Carson St. – 6/11/17 at 10:30 PM – Officers were summoned to a local bar for 2 female victims kicked in the face. Upon arrival, the victims and the suspect were on scene. The victim explained the suspect approached them earlier and was following them around the bar. According to the victims, suspect continued to follow them and then stated he wanted to perform a sexual act on them. A victim's response was to slap the suspect in the arm to get him away from them. However, the suspect responded by proceeded up the stairs and bracing himself and delivering 3 "mule kicks" striking the two females while on the stairs. Witnesses corroborated the statements of the victims. As a result, Thomas Dowden, was arrested and transported to the ACJ.

Theft from vehicle – S. 18th St. & Sidney St. – 6/11/17 at 3 AM – Victim reported he parked his vehicle 90 minutes ago and when he returned the door was unlatched and items were stolen out of the vehicle. Items stolen were Tom Tom GPS, Kennywood tickets, Sandcastle tickets, E-Z pass, & back pack. Amount of loss is over $3,100. There was no signs of forced entry into the vehicle.

Allentown (1803)

Theft from vehicle – 600 blk. McLain St. - between 6/4/17 at 10 PM and 6/5/17 at 10:45 AM – Victim reported her cell phone charger was stolen from her vehicle. Loss is $20.

Theft from vehicle – 900 blk. Industry St. - between 6/5/17 at 9 PM and 6/6/17 at 11:30 AM – Victim reported 2 pocket knives were stolen from her vehicle. Amount of loss is unknown.

Theft – 800 blk. E. Warrington Ave. - 6/6/17 at 8 PM – Victim reported his z-trip tickets were stolen from his mail. Amount of loss is $270.

Theft – 800 blk. E. Warrington Ave. – between 3 PM and 7:30 PM on 6/5/17. – Victim reported he hired movers to deliver his belongings from his previous address to his current one. After, the victim observed items were missing. The items were silverware, kitchenware food attachments, wooden dresser, & medications. Amount of loss is over $300.

Aggravated assault – Freeland St. & Beltzhoover Ave. – 6/10/17 at 7:15 PM – Officers were dispatched to a local hospital for a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, they were directed to the victim. The victim stated he was walking to a friend's home when he encountered a male wearing all black with a mask. The male yelled at him and he tried to ignore him. The victim stated he was shot in the leg and "dipped out" before he could see the direction of flight the suspect took. The victim was shot in the right thigh and calf.

Theft from vehicle – 200 blk. Mountain Ave. – between 6/9/17 at 10 PM and 6/10/17 at 8:30 AM – Employee reported tools stolen from company truck. Items were Dewalt impact guns, Dewalt cordless drills, Milwaukee impact guns, Porter Cable cordless drill, Porter Cable circular saw, Dewalt compressor, stinger gun, & a gas powered leaf blower. Amount of loss is unknown.

Arlington Heights (1604)

Beltzhoover (1809)

Burglary – 200 blk. Climax St. - between 6/6/17 at 6 PM and 6/6/17 at 8:50 PM – Victim reported arriving home and finding a window open and her Vizio 32" LED TV was stolen.

Carrick (2901, 2902, 2904)

Theft – 100 blk. Parkfield St. – between 6/4/17 at 11:45 PM and 6/5/17 at 3:45 PM – Victim called to report a known actor stole his medication and BB gun. Amount of loss is over $100.

Theft – 100 blk. Anglo Way – between 6/2/17 at midnight and 6/5/17 at 9 AM – An employee of a service provider reported someone cut down about an 85 foot section on copper cable which delivered service to their customers. Amount of loss is unknown.

Stolen vehicle – 2200 blk. Lutz Ave. – between 6/7/17 from midnight to 9 AM – Victim reported overnight someone had stolen a black 1974 Suzuki TS185 dirt bike.

Theft – 300 blk. Sunnyland Ave. – between 6/7/17 at 10 PM and 6/8/17 at 8 AM – Victim reported a white Yamaha Banshee quad 4 wheeler was stolen from his property. Amount of loss is $10,000.

Theft by deception – 100 blk. Knox Ave. – between 4/24/17 at midnight and 5/20/17 at midnight – Victim explained she was sending money to rent an apartment. The victim "wired" money to the suspect and was to receive keys to the apartment in the mail. The victim never received the keys. Loss is $840.

Theft & Access device fraud – Brownsville Rd & Copperfield Ave. – 5/26/17 at 3:51 AM – Victim called to report someone had taken her debit card and made withdraw at a local ATM. The amount of loss is $69.50.

Theft – 2000 blk. Brownsville Rd. – between 6/7/17 at 9 PM and 6/8/17 at 6 AM – Victim reported a known person took $481 from him. Victim tried to recover the money but could not locate the suspect.

Burglary – 1700 blk. Amanda St. – 6/10/17 at 5:10 AM – Victim stated he heard his front door shut. He saw a white female (black curly hair, black leggings, & average build) going down his steps. He also observed his cash had been stolen. The female got into a white SUV and left the scene.

Robbery – 100 blk. Hornaday Rd. – 6/11/17 at 7 AM – Victim stated she was dropping off a known person at location and was asked to come inside. Once inside the person would not let her leave. The victim stated she had to push her way out of the house and the person/suspect ripped her phone from her hand. The suspect is described as a black male (5'7", 170 pounds, medium build, bald or shaved head). The phone was a Samsung Galaxy. Amount of loss is unknown.

Overbrook (3204, 3207)

Theft – 2700 blk. Library Rd. – between 7:30 AM and 1:26 PM on 6/6/17 – A manager of a business called to report an employee had taken over $1,327.39 which was to be deposited in the bank.

Criminal Trespass – 100 blk. Briggs St. – between 6/5/17 at 4:30 PM and 6/7/17 at 8:30 AM – An employee called to report someone had pried open the rear door breaking the hinges on the door. Nothing was reported missing from the building.

Theft – 2300 blk. Walton Ave. – between 5/28/17 at 1 AM and 6/11/17 at 1 PM – Victim reported his aluminum baseball bats and gear were stolen. Amount of loss is $600.

St. Clair (1606)

Knoxville (3001)

Theft – 300 blk. Rochelle St. – between 11:14 AM and 2:05 PM on 6/9/17 – Victim reported an item was delivered to her home and stolen. The amount of loss is $103.

Robbery & Burglary – 200 blk. Marland St. – 6/11/17 at 3:30 PM – Victim heard the sound of a glass breaking in the rear of the house. He went inside the home and found 2 known suspects inside of the home. One suspect pulled a silver .380 (gun) and pointed it at the victim. A suspect went upstairs and took the victim's PS4 gaming system. The suspect then went upstairs and brought down the victim's younger brother. The victim and the suspects began to fight. The victim yelled for his brother to call his mom. As a result, the suspects left. The victim was cut in the course of the incident. The suspects dropped some items while fleeing the scene but were able to take a Coach Purse, social security information, vehicle key, & medication. Amount of loss is unknown.

Burglary – 100 blk. Redlyn St. – between 6/10/17 at 5:30 AM and 6/11/17 at 3:45 PM – Victim reported he found his window open and items were taken from his home. The items are 4 pair of shoes and a pair of Levi jeans. Amount of loss is $310.
