Remake Learning Days offer free activities for children, families

 


Remake Learning Days, from May 15-26, is an open house of hands-on learning featuring fun and free events in new technology, arts workshops, science experiments, student films, outdoor learning and more.

A number of events will be held in the Hilltop in coloration with UrbanKind Institute. The Remake Learning Days Kickoff will be at PNC Park on Monday, May 15 from 3-6 p.m.

The kickoff is a free family-friendly, drop-in event featuring dozens of fun and creative hand-on activities along with light refreshments. Register at rmldayskickoff.eventbrite.com.

Brashear Kids Open House is on Monday, May 15, 3-6 p.m. at the Allentown Learning and Engagement Center (ALEC) on E. Warrington Avenue. The open house features ALEC partners YMCA Creator Space, Big Brothers Big Sisters and more. Tour the GTECH Green Place, meet the staff and tinker with YCS technology and learn more about what Brashear has to offer for Hilltop families.

Make your own Ethernet cables and learn about computer networking with Meta Mesh Wireless Communities from Noon to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, at Code Academy PGH on E. Warrington Avenue.

Inner City Debs information and registration workshop on Wednesday, May 17 from 4-7 p.m. at Warrington Recreation Center. The debutante program serves young ladies 8-18 with activities designed to build self-esteem, promote cultural awareness and character education the help young ladies mature into young adults.

Y Creator Space end-of-Year Showcase at the Hilltop YMCA on Wednesday, May 17, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the LifeSpan Building on Brownsville Road. See and try some of the cool Y Creator Space technology and engineering projects at this free family fun night with interactive stations, fun activities and food.

Voices Against Violence Open Hands Open House will take place on Saturday, May 20 from 11:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the McKinley Park Shelter House. Join VAV at they share information about what their projects promote. The will show children there are always better choices and they can be involved in their many programs including upcoming summer camp. Food, fun and outdoor activities are provided.

Grandview’s Create and Play Day, hosted by Grandview Elementary School, will take place on Tuesday, May 23 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. The event will be held in-school, after hours for students, teachers and community members of the Hilltop. With a carnival atmosphere, this in-school event features games through tech, art and play as well as team building activities.
