Zone 3 Community Crime Alerts April 17-23

 


The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: April 17-23.

Duquesne Heights (1911)

Stolen vehicle – 200 blk. Republic St. – between 4/16/17 at 9 AM and 4/17/17 at 9:30 AM – victim reported he parked his car and when he returned it was gone. The vehicle is a burgundy 2012 Lincoln MKL with PA plate ERR6033. The car may have been unlocked.

Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)

Burglary – 100 blk. Harwood St. – between 4/1/17 at 9 AM and 4/17/17 at 2 PM – victim reported an unknown person forced open the rear basement door and stole the copper pipe from the home. Amount of loss is unknown.

Robbery – Haberman Ave & Bailey Ave. – 4/17/17 at 4:10 PM – victim reported she was walking when a white male passed her on his cell phone. The male then turned around and grabbed her purse from her hands and fled. The items stolen were a tan canvas bag, green change purse, cash, checkbook, and credit cards. Amount of loss is over $32. The suspect is described as a white male, 20-30 years old, medium build, clean shaven, and wearing a baseball cap.

Theft from person – 100 blk. Craighead St. – between 4/16/17 at 7PM and 4/18/17 at 1 PM – victim stated a known suspect stole his daughter’s Samsung touch screen tablet and his Asus black laptop. Loss is $888.

Theft from person – 100 blk. Ruth St. – 4/19/17 at Noon – victim reported a known person came to her home asking for money. The victim let the known person in her home and before she realized the person was gone. The known person was witnessed leaving the home hunched over as if to hide an object. The known person is a white male 35-45 years old, short & thin, with dirty/rotten teeth. Last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans with a black hoodie. Items stolen from the victim were a black leather purse with brown straps, bank cards, checkbook, cash, ID card, and a check. The loss is over $90.

Burglary – 300 blk. W. Sycamore St. – between 4/20/17 at 4:30 AM and 4/20/17 at 7:30 PM – victim reported a home burglary. Victim came home and discovered items were stolen. Items stolen were his Xbox 1 gaming system and 2 controllers. His roommate’s 53” flat screen TV and 48” Vizio flat screen TV were stolen too. Loss is about $1,360.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Cowan St. – between 4/13/17 at 5 PM and 4/14/17 at 9 AM – victim reported her Samsung Tablet was stolen from her vehicle. The victim thinks the car may have been unlocked. The victim’s black Coach leather briefcase was stolen too. Amount of loss is $500.

Aggravated assault – 100 blk. Boggs Ave. – 4/22/17 at 3 AM – victim reported an unknown black female (5’5”, 120 pounds, small build, black hair, and brown complexion) wearing a red hoodie and gray pants approached him and asked him for money. When the victim stated he did not have any the female stabbed him. The victim was taken by medics to a local hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

Theft from person – 400 blk. Griffin St. – between 4/1/17 at 1 AM and 4/18/17 at 4 PM – Victim stated a known person stole $500 cash from him.

South Shore (1921)

Burglary – 200 blk. Arlington Ave. – between 4/21/17 at 5 AM and 4/21/17 at 10:35 AM – Victims reported they caught two known suspects breaking into their home and damaging their property. Also several items were stolen. The items stolen are 8-10 pair of jeans (True Religion), 4 pair of high heel shoes, 2 pair tennis shoes, 10-15 shirts, Michael Cors wallet, Louie Baton purse, hair products, perfume, 3 leather jackets, 14-15 hoodies, 30 hats, 2 boost mobile galaxy J3 cell phones, penguins jersey (throwback), penguins snap back hat, Steelers jacket, & lottery ticket. Amount of loss is over $2,394.

Bon Air (1806)

South Side Slopes (1706, 1608)

Theft from vehicle – 1100 blk. E. Warrington – between 4/18/17 at 10:30 PM and 4/19/17 at 6 AM – victim reported his wallet was taken from his vehicle. The victim found cards in his vehicle that did not belong to him. Items in the wallet were driver’s license, Ace reloadable card, & Bank card. Afterwards, the cards were used at a local business. The loss, so far, is $61.26.

South Side Flats (1609,1702)

Theft from person – 2500 blk. Wharton Ct. - between 4/17/17 at 10:30 PM and 4/18/17 at Noon – victim reported his red All City Street Bike stolen (bicycle). Value was $950.

Theft by deception & Forgery – 2700 blk. S. Water St. - 4/16/17 at 11:40 PM – Victim reported an unknown person working at a local business charged more on their Bank card then they agreed. The victim stated the unknown person charged them 3-5 dollars more and signed the card with the card holder’s name.

Theft from vehicle – Sarah St. & S. 22nd St. – between 4/19/17 at Midnight and 4/20/17 at 11 AM – Victim stated her friend forgot to lock her car door and someone stole her wallet. The wallet contained a driver’s license, debit card, & insurance card. Also, the victim’s Polo sunglasses and coins were taken too. Amount of loss is unknown.

Theft by deception – 4600 blk. E. Carson St. – 4/19/17 at 10 PM – Manager of a business called to report one of his employee’s was given what the employee thought was a 50 dollar bill for food. However, the bill was marked “Motion Picture Use Only”. Amount of loss is $50.

Theft from person – 2400 blk. Sarah St. – 4/23/17 at 11:43 PM – Victim reported a known person took her cell phone after engaging in an argument with him. Amount of loss is unknown.

Stolen vehicle – 1900 blk. Sidney St. – between 4/15/17 at 9:30 PM and 4/16/17 at 9:30 PM – Victim reported someone stole his red 2007 Ford Mustang with PA plate JLZ5216. Victim left the car unlocked with the keys and his cell phone in the center console.

Stolen vehicle – 2000 blk. Wrights Way – between 4/15/17 at 2 AM and 4/17/17 at 2:13 PM – Victim reported her gray 2004 Hyundai Sonata with PA plate JYN5372 was stolen. Victim parked her car and when she returned it was gone.

Theft of property lost or mislaid – 1500 blk. E. Carson St. – between 4/15/17 at 8 PM and 4/16/17 at 1:30 AM – Victim reported placing her wallet on the bar (a local bar). When she realized it was stolen she called to report it. The wallet was a silver 9 West with cash, Bank cards, medical cards, business charge cards, & access card inside. Amount of loss is over $140.

Robbery – 100 blk. S. 19th St. – 4/18/17 at 2:48 PM – officers responded to a robbery call. The victim was walking home from a local grocery store when she was approached by a white male between 40-50 years old and medium build with a long sleeve white shirt. The white male passed her. The white male then turned around and ripped the purse off of the victim’s shoulder. The victim was an elderly woman. The purse contained her access card and personal information. The purse was a Square cross-body purse. Amount of loss is unknown.

Theft from vehicle – S. 16th St. & Sarah St. – between 4/16/17 at Midnight and 4/21/17 at Midnight – Victim reported and unknown person stole his license plate (KBB0102) off of his vehicle. The victim also reported someone “keyed” the driver’s side of his vehicle and flattened his tires. Amount of damage is unknown.

Theft from vehicle – S. 19th St. & Mary St. – between 4/21/17 at 9 PM and 4/22/17 at 7 AM – Victim reported someone stole her license plate off of her vehicle. The plate was a NY plate. New York issues 2 plates for the vehicles (front & back of vehicle).

Theft of property lost or mislaid – 1700 blk. E. Carson St. – 4/24/17 at 2 AM – victim put her purse down in a local bar and discovered it missing. The purse was found at another local business but her ID card and black wallet were stolen. Loss is $39.

Robbery – 1100 blk. E. Carson St. – 4/23/17 at 6:33 PM – victim was at a local bar wearing a shirt which insinuated he was with a motorcycle club. A motorcycle club took offense to this person wearing the shirt and confronted him. Members of the motorcycle club ripped the shirt off of the victim and when they saw the victim had a firearm they stole it from his holster. Officers responding to the crime stopped the motorcycle club leaving the area. The victim identified 4 suspects as the ones that were involved in the robbery. Arrested were Gino Furgiuele, James Mixter II, Bradley Lewis, & Richard Schriner. A black Glock 43 (9mm) pistol serial number ABYV724 was stolen and not recovered.

Allentown (1803)

Theft from person – 200 blk. Helen Way – between 4/18/17 at 10 PM and 4/19/17 at 2 AM – Victim fell asleep and when he awoke he discovered his cell phones, Nintendo 2DS, Nintendo Triple play game, & Sony PlayStation 3 were stolen. The victim had let a person stay over a few days & when he awoke his friend and belongings were gone.

Theft from person – 800 blk. Eureka St. – between 4/21/17 at 3 AM and 4/21/17 at 8:35 AM – Victim reported she passed out drinking alcohol with friends and when she awoke the friends and her $220 on her dresser were gone.

Stolen vehicle – 100 blk. Sylvania Ave. – 4/16/17 at 9:30 PM – The driver of a rental car called to report the vehicle had been stolen. The driver had left the vehicle for about a half hour when she returned the vehicle was gone. The vehicle is a silver 2017 Hyundai Sonata with PA plate KFZ3276.

Carrick (2901, 2902, 2904)

Burglary – 1600 blk. Nobles Ln. – between 4/21/17 at 2 AM and 4/21/17 at 4 AM – Owner called to report his business was a victim of a burglary. There was no signs of forced entry and the only items taken were several 6-packs of beer. The amount of loss is not known.

Theft from vehicle – 300 blk. Copperfield Ave. – between 4/20/17 at 11:50 PM and 4/23/17 at 3 PM – victim reported someone stole his Taurus Intl. Millennium Model G2 9mm and bullets from his car. The amount of loss is $319. The victim believes the car may have been unlocked due to no signs of forced entry.

Theft by deception, Forgery, & Identity theft – 200 blk. The Boulevard. – Victim reported a known actor took a Bank loan out using the victim’s home as collateral. The amount of loss is over $80,000.

Robbery – 1000 blk. Amanda St. – 4/21/17 at 3 PM – Victim was walking when approached by 2 black males (8 to 9 years old). The suspects demanded her money and pulled a knife out with a blade approximately 6”. The victim ran away and the suspects fled on the same bicycle.

Stolen/Recovered Vehicle – 100 blk. Merritt Ave. – 4/22/17 at Noon – An employee was repossessing a vehicle. When he arrived the vehicle was not there. The former owner notified the company the keys would be in the car and unlocked. 911 was called and the former owner was informed by a friend that her car was located at Climax and Allen Street. The employee then located the vehicle at this location and repossessed it.

Robbery – 2200 blk. Brownville Rd. – 4/23/17 at 2:40 AM – Officers responded to a robbery in progress call. Upon arrival, the victim told officers the suspects fled in a red Ford Expedition. The victim explained 2 black males (one had long dreadlocks, wearing dark shoes and a bandana over his face & the other one had short hair wearing white shoes) had robbed him. According to the victim, he was walking to his home when one suspect approached him and asked if he had a lighter. The other male with the short hair positioned himself behind the victim and pulled out a silver gun and stuck it in the victim’s ribs. The suspects stole the victim’s silver Samsung phone, lighter, ID card, & cash. The victim asked for his ID as he was following the actors. The actors told him to cross the street and when he did a shot was fired in his direction. The suspects then fled in the red Ford Expedition. Meanwhile, an officer observed a vehicle matching the description in the area and stopped the vehicle and detained the two males inside the vehicle for victim identification. The victim positively identified the two males in the stopped vehicle as the ones who just robbed him. Also, he added it was the same red Ford Expedition. Arrested were Shawn Thomas and Desmond Mahaffey. Officers recovered a silver firearm, ammunition, and drugs.

Theft of property delivered – 400 blk. Bausman St. – 4/19/17 at 1:30 PM – Victim reported a box was delivered to her home with 6 pair of shoes. The box was stolen from her porch. The amount of loss is $368.

Theft from person – 300 blk. Brownville Rd. – 4/21/17 at 4:55 PM – Victim stated 3 black males entered the room at a Center and stole her iPhone 5S (purple) and fled the scene. The amount of loss is unknown.

Theft from vehicle – 200 blk. McKinley St. – 4/22/17 at 11 AM – Victim reported her purse along with her Samsung I5 phone was stolen from her boyfriend’s vehicle. She stated the vehicle was parked for 2 hours. When she returned the purse & the contents were gone. Amount of loss is unknown.
