The following are the Part I crimes for the week of February 20-26

Duquesne Heights (1911)

Theft from vehicle – Athlone Way & Beam Way – between 2/24/17 at 9:30 PM and 2/25/17 at 11:30 AM – an officer responded to a found property call. Upon arrival, the officer was directed to a wallet. The officer was able to locate the owner's information by the identification in the wallet. The owner was later found but $20 was stolen from the wallet. The owner stated his wallet was stolen from his vehicle. The owner was not sure if the car doors locked when he pressed the fob earlier.

Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)

Theft from person – 100 blk. Southern Ave. - between 12/31/16 at midnight and 1/2/17 at midnight – victim reported an unknown person took her Visa card from her home and made several unauthorized transactions. The card was then returned. Amount of loss is $280.50.

Burglary – 100 blk. Secane Ave. - between 10/21/16 at 3 PM and 1/29/17 at 3 PM – victim reported several items being stolen from a storage unit in the basement. The items taken are prescription medication, a gold butterfly necklace, a blue and white diamond snowflake necklace, a white gold diamond ring, and promissory notes. Value lost is $3,415. The victim believes they know the suspects identity.

Theft from vehicle – 300 blk. Boggs Ave. - between 2/25/17 at 1 AM and 2/25/17 at 8 AM – victim reported an unknown person broke her front passenger side window and stole her make up bag along with her ID card and other miscellaneous items. The amount of loss is unknown.

Theft from vehicle – Oakley Way & Stromberg St. - 2/20/17 at 12:14 PM – a witness stopped an officer and told him he saw a female wearing a red sweater, carrying a green hoodie and purse, attempting to open car doors. As the witness got closer, the female went behind a home on Oakley Way. The officer was able to locate the suspect and while talking with the suspect a victim approached the officer stating items (green hoodie, purse, and coach wallet) were stolen from her vehicle. Value about $110. The officers checked Oakley Way and found the stolen items and returned them to the owner. Samantha Ruszecki was arrested after positive identification was made.

Burglary – 2500 blk. Burham St. - between 2/22/17 at 5 PM and 2/22/17 at 5:30 PM – the home owner was contacted by a relative stating there was a black male (dark complexion, 30 to 35 years old, 5'10", medium build, black hair, and a goatee) lurking around the home. The suspect entered through the rear door and stole a black Wii gaming console. Value is $200.

South Side Flats (1609,1702)

Theft from vehicle – S. 24th St. & Josephine St. - between 1/15/17 at 9 AM and 2/16/17 at 9 AM – victim reported her license plate was stolen from her vehicle (PA plate JJZ8051).

Theft by deception – 100 blk. S. 11th St. - between 2/9/17 at midnight and 2/22/17 at 2:56 PM- victim reported he agreed to buy a 250 cc scooter on-line. The victim gave his bank routing information to the suspect who never shipped the scooter to him. The suspect gave an address in Aurora, Colorado. Loss is $650.

Stolen vehicle – E. Carson St. & S. 7th St. - 2/21/17 at 7 PM - an employee called to report a person he works with stole the company's truck. The truck is a white 2000 GMC "box truck" with PA plate ZJX9326. The vehicle has "Standard" on the tailgate.

Burglary – 1300 blk. E. Carson St. - 2/18/17 at 10:30 PM – owner reported a burglary of his business. Owner has surveillance of a male trying to break into a cash register. The suspect then takes 2 beer bottles. Loss is unknown due to damage to the register.

Theft from person – 1500 blk. E. Carson St. - 2/23/17 at midnight – victim stated she left her phone on the bar and when she came back it was gone. The phone was a Iphone 6 with a blue case. Loss is $540.

Criminal Trespass – 100 blk. S. 26th St. - 2/25/17 at 4 PM – officers responded to a trespasser in an abandoned home call. Officers found 3 females and 1 male inside of the home. A search warrant was obtained for the home. Officers recovered drugs, drug paraphernalia, and suspected stolen items. The 3 females arrested were Elizabeth Sekela, Cynthia Schreiber, and Brittany Murphy. The male arrested is Gregory Cawley.

Theft of lost or mislaid property – S. 3rd St. & McKean St. - 2/24/17 at 1 PM – victim reported he lost his iphone 7. The cost of the phone is $600.

Theft by deception – 1000 blk. E. Carson St. - between 2/11/17 at midnight and 2/24/17 at 7:57 PM - business manager reported the bank notified him of 2 charge-backs (fraudulent transactions). The amount of loss is $100.98.

Theft from person – 100 blk. S.17th St. - between 2/13/17 at 5 PM and 2/24/17 at 11:30 AM – victim had 2 U.S. Postal packages stolen from home. Loss is $50.

Theft from person – 100 blk. S. 11th St. - between 2/25/17 at 11 AM and 2/25/17 at 3:15 PM – victim reported her dark blue Diamondback Sorrento bicycle was stolen. Loss is $300.

Allentown (1803)

Robbery – 1000 blk. Arlington Ave. - 2/24/17 at 9:48 PM – victim reported a unknown black male with a dark complexion between 18 to 25 years old was following him. The unknown male then assaulted him and stole his University of Pittsburgh baseball cap. The suspect was wearing a white shirt and white casual pants. Amount of loss is unknown.

Arlington (1603)

Theft by deception – 2400 blk. Spring St. - between 2/1/17 at midnight and 2/22/17 at 2 PM – victim reported sending money $480 to buy a Yorkie puppy on Google. She was later contacted by a female at the airport requesting another $910 for insurance to continue shipping the dog. The victim contacted a relative who informed her it was a scam it should not cost that much. Loss is $480.

Arlington Heights (1604)

Beltzhoover (1809)

Robbery – E. Warrington & Curtain Ave. - 2/20/17 at 11:15 PM – victim reported 3 black males just robbed him. The suspects grabbed his arm knocking him to the ground and punched him several times in the jaw. Then the suspects stole the victim's wallet and its contents. The items were a Visa prepay card, a check, driver's license, and cash. Amount of loss is $428. The suspects are described as between 18 to 22 years old. One is 6'1", 180 pounds, medium build, short curly hair, mustache, and dark complexion wearing black jeans and black shirt. Second is 5'7", 200 pounds, large build, short black hair, and a dark complexion wearing a gray hoodie, blue shirt, and black jeans. Third is 5'6" and 200 pounds wearing jeans and a black hoodie.

Stolen vehicle – 100 blk. Lafferty Ave. - between 2/22/17 at 7 PM and 2/23/17 at 8 AM – victim reported someone stolen his gold 2003 Ford Taurus 4 door with no plate on the vehicle.

Aggravated assault – 400 blk. Climax St. - 2/21/17 at 4 AM – officers were called for strange noises. Upon arrival, officers found a man badly beaten laying in a puddle of blood. Officers observed the male was breathing but unconscious. Medics were summoned and transported the male in critical condition to a local hospital.

Stolen vehicle – 400 blk. Climax St. - 2/21/17 at 4 AM – general manager of a cab company reported a light silver 2015 Toyota SXB "taxi cab" was stolen with PA plate TX49469.

Carrick (2901, 2902, 2904)

Theft from vehicle – 2300 blk. Brownsville Rd. - 2/21/17 at 10 PM – victim states he was in a bar for a short period of time an unknown person stole his firearm from the glove box in his vehicle. The firearm is a black Glock G19 9mm. The value of the firearm is about $515.

Burglary – 100 blk. Stewart Ave. - between 2/20/17 at 11:15 AM and 2/20/17 at 12:30 PM - victim reported a home burglary. The basement door was found open and a 40" Westinghouse flat screen TV was stolen. Loss is $300. The home was in disarray as items were moved or scattered around the home.

Overbrook (3204, 3207)

Burglary – 2100 blk. Walton Ave. - between 2/20/17 at 7 PM and 2/21/17 at 1 PM – victim reported a home burglary. Items were stolen from the home. The items were a Vizio 55" black smart flat screen TV, a shark sweeper, and a GE digital antenna. Loss is $1,515.

Theft from person – 2800 blk. Homehurst Ave. - between 2/7/17 at Noon and 2/21/17 at 9:28 AM – victim reported her mail was stolen with tax related information in the mail.

Theft by deception – 100 blk. Laughlin Ave. - 2/25/17 at 10:25 AM – victim received a call from a person claiming to be from the IRS (Internal Revenue Service). The caller informed the victim an arrest warrant was being issued for her arrest and she needed to call the number back. The victim had heard about an IRS scam and called the police to report it. No money was lost. The call came from the 206 area code and the voicemail stating "The Federal Tax Department".

Knoxville (3001)

Theft from person – 400 blk. Daytona St. - between 10/31/16 at 8:30 AM and 2/23/17 at 7:10 PM – victim paid a moving company to move her belongings. She just unpacked a box and discovered items were stolen. The items are 2 Samsung 7" pads and .45 bullets. Loss is over $400.

Robbery – 400 blk. Brownsville Rd. - between 2/24/17 at 7 PM and 2/24/17 at 10 PM – victim reported a group of 10 juveniles attacked him. The victim stated he was knocked to the ground and kicked causing 2 broken ribs. The group then took his 12 pack of Natural Ice 16 oz. Cans. The victim could not give a better description than a group consisting of black males and females and possibly a white male too. Loss is $12. Victim added he woke up in the hospital but reported the robbery the next day to police.
