Zone 3 community crime alerts for January 30-February 5

 


The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: January 30 to February 5.

Duquesne Heights (1911)

Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Tuscola St. - between 1/28/17 at 8:30 PM and 1/30/17 at 7:15 AM – victim reported her vehicle was broken and items were taken from the vehicle. Items taken are a messenger bag with its contents, Acer laptop, tax paperwork, cash, and sunglasses. Amount of loss is $470.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Southern Ave. - between 1/31/17 at 5:30 PM and 2/1/17 at 4 PM – victim reported the front passenger side window was broken and items were taken from the vehicle. Loss is $370. Items taken were a black Michael Kors purse and a red Kate Spade wallet.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Southern Ave. - between 1/31/17 at 10:30 PM and 2/1/17 at 3:46 PM – victim reported interior of the vehicle ransacked and items were stolen. Victim does not know how thief gained access. Items stolen are an older Ipod & Ralph Lauren perfume. Loss is $170.

Theft from vehicle – 300 blk. Natchez St. - between 1/31/17 at 9 PM and 2/1/17 at 4 PM – victim reported items stolen from the vehicle. Victim does not know how thief gained access to the interior. Items taken are paperwork for welfare & housing with social security information. Social security card was also stolen. Amount of loss is not known.

Theft from person – 100 blk. Craighead St. - 2/4/17 at 4:45 PM – victim called to report his relative stole the victim's cell phone. Loss is $99.

Theft from person – 100 blk. Olympia St. - between 2/2/17 at 2 PM – victim reported his American Airlines frequent flyer account was accessed and 90,000 miles was transferred. American Airlines sent an e-mail notifying the victim of the change to the account. Amount of loss is unknown.

South Side Slopes (1706, 1608)

Theft from vehicle – 800 blk. Arlington Ave – between 1/29/17 at 11 PM and 1/30/17 at 10:30 AM – victim reported driver side front window was smashed and items were stolen from the vehicle. Items stolen were a leather "roll" of professional knives along with 8 professional chef knives. Loss is $1,150.

South Side Flats (1609,1702)

Theft from vehicle – 2700 blk. Jane St. - 1/30/17 at 11:06 AM – victim reported someone had taken her license plate (Kansas 621GXH) off of her car and put it on another SUV (a silver 1995 Jeep). A witness saw a black male acting suspicious around the victim's car the day before. The officer checked and found a male was contacted by police the day before. The male contacted the day before and the owner of the Jeep are the same person. The victim refused to prosecute. The license plate was returned to the rightful owner.

Theft from vehicle – 1300 blk. Muriel St. - between 1/28/17 at 1 PM and 1/30/17 at 7:45 AM – victim reported passenger side front window was broken and items were taken from the vehicle. Items were a pair of old sunglasses and a Dick's Sporting Goods gift card. Amount of loss is over $20.

Theft from vehicle – Freyburg and S. 10th St. - between 1/29/17 at 10 AM and 1/30/17 at 8 AM – victim reported passenger side front window was smashed out and the vehicle was rifled through. Amount of damage is the cost of replacing window.

Theft from vehicle – S. 10th St. And Freyburg – between 1/29/17 at 11:30 PM and 1/30/17 at 9:30 AM – victim reported driver side window smashed and items were stolen. Items stolen were Garmin GPS and change. Loss $153.

Theft from vehicle – S.21st St. and E. Carson St. - between 1/30/17 at 12:15 AM and 1/30/17 at 6:15 AM – victim reported passenger side window was smashed ands item were stolen from the car. The items taken were black Oontz Angle Bluetooth speakers. Loss estimated at $100.

Theft from vehicle – 900 blk. S. 9th St. - between 1/21/17 at 10 PM and 1/22/17 at 3 PM - victim reported her vehicle was towed from a parking lot by a private tow company. When the victim retrieved the car from the company all 4 doors were unlocked and $232 in an envelope was gone.

Theft from vehicle – E. Carson St. & S. 2nd St. - between 1/29/17 at 2:50 PM and 1/30/17 at 1 AM – victim reported the passenger side front window was broken and items were stolen from the vehicle. Items are a gray 16-gigabyte Ipod Nano and a white auxiliary cord. Amount of loss is $152.99.

Theft from vehicle – 2100 blk. E. Carson St. - between 2/2/17 at 6:30 PM and 2/3/17 at 7:30 AM – victim reported the front passenger side window was smashed. The vehicle was rifled thru. Victim does not think anything was stolen at this time.

Robbery – 300 blk. S. 9th St. - 2/3/17 at 12:35 PM – victim explained he was standing next to a building a white male & black male approached him and stated "give me your money". When the victim refused the suspects ran. The white male suspect was wearing a white design shirt and blue jeans. The black male was wearing sunglasses. The victim was unable to give a better description.

Theft from vehicle – S. 10th St. & Pretense Way – between 2/3/17 at Midnight and 2/3/17 at 10:30 AM – victim reported the driver side window was smashed and there was a dent on the door by the smashed window. The victim stated the vehicle was rifled thru, but nothing appears to have been taken.

Theft from vehicle – Bingham St. & S. 7th St. - between 2/2/17 at 4 PM and 2/3/17 at 10 AM – victim reported the passenger side window was smashed and a pair of Oakley prescription sunglasses was stolen. Loss $400.

Theft from vehicle – S. 18th St. & South Shore Ct. - between 2/3/17 at 4 AM and 2/3/17 at 9:55 AM – victim reported the front passenger side window was smashed out. Victim stated nothing appears to have been stolen, even though, the vehicle was rifled through.

Theft from vehicle – 2000 blk. Sidney St. - between 2/2/17 at 6:30 PM and 2/4/17 at 6:45 AM – victim reported the vehicle window was smashed out and items were taken from the vehicle. The items were Ray Ban sunglasses (black with blue trim) and an unknown amount of loose change. The loss is over $101.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. S. 21st St. - between 2/2/17 at 8 AM and 2/5/17 at 3:40 PM – a concerned citizen saw the passenger side window broken out on the victim's vehicle. 911 was call and the officer was able to make contact with the victim. The victim stated a pair of sunglasses valued at $50 was taken from the vehicle.

Allentown (1803)

Stolen vehicle – 600 blk. E. Warrington Ave. - 1/30/17 at 8:34 AM – victim reported her white 2005 Hyundai Sonata with PA plate KGX1884 was stolen. The victim started the car to warm it up and an unknown person stole the vehicle.

Theft from vehicle - 900 blk. Arlington Ave. - between 1/29/17 at 12 PM and 1/30/17 at 10:50 AM – victim reported front passenger side window was busted out and the vehicle was rifled through. Damage to the vehicle is around $400.

Theft from vehicle – 1000 blk. Arlington Ave. - between 1/26/17 at Midnight and 1/30/17 at 7:15 PM – victim reported the passenger side window was broken out and the vehicle was rifled through. The amount of damage is unknown.

Theft from vehicle – 900 blk. Arlington Ave. - between 1/29/17 at 6:45 PM and 1/30/17 at 9 AM – victim reported the front passenger side window was broken and items were taken from the vehicle. The items were vehicle registration, insurance, and title documents. Amount of loss is unknown.

Theft from person – 800 blk. Arlington Ave. - 1/31/17 at 10:20 PM – victim reported an unknown actor stole his Mongoose 23-speed mountain bike left unsecured in front of a business. Loss is $279.

Theft from person – 300 blk. Millbridge St. - 2/2/17 at 10 PM – victim reported a contractor doing floor work stole the Samsung 40" TV from the living room. The actor is known to the victim. Loss is $400.

Theft from vehicle – E. Amanda Ave & Charles - 2/2/17 at 10:30 PM – victim stated she was at a local bar and placed her purse in the trunk. When she arrived home the purse was gone. Victim believes key fob may have been close enough to unlock the trunk when she went back inside the bar after placing the purse in the trunk. Items stolen are a black purse with handles/straps having gold accents, a black worn wallet, turquoise & black makeup bag, Credit and Debit Cards, child support card, social security card, gift/bonus cards, driver's license, and student ID. Amount of loss is unknown.

Burglary – 400 blk. Freeland St. - between 2/4/17 at 1 PM and 2/5/17 at 1:51 AM – victim reported coming home to find their front door frame broken off and items taken from the home. Items stolen were a 50" Element TV, 48" Insignia TV, and a white Xbox with a controller. Loss is $1,079.

Theft from vehicle – 400 blk. Cedarhurst St. - between 2/4/17 at 10 PM and 2/5/17 at 7:05 AM - victim reported the front passenger side window was smashed and 20 CDs stolen from inside the vehicle inside. Loss is over $100.

Carrick (2901, 2902, 2904)

Burglary – 300 blk. Sunnyland Ave. - 1/31/17 at 1:30 PM – an officer was stopped and was told a woman saw a suspicious black male and white male going door to door asking if "Desmond" lived there. There was also a report of the two suspicious persons carrying a TV. Officers were also responding to the area for a burglary report. Home owners arrived home and found the back patio window smashed out and several items were taken. Items were an Apple laptop, emerald ring with diamonds, crystal ring, Iphone 4 with a blue case, & a 32" Vizio TV. Loss is $3,000. The white male is described as between 15 and 25 years old, 5'5", small build, dark long straight hair, and wearing a black hoodie. The black male is described as between 15 and 25 years old, 6', dark short hair, and wearing a black hoodie.

Burglary – 400 blk. E. Agnew Ave. - between 1/28/17 at 12 PM and 1/30/17 at 12:16 PM – victim reported the side door to home was "kicked-in" and multiple tools were stolen from the home. Officers observed the door frame was damaged and the window on the door was broken. The victim will provide police a more detailed list of the items stolen at a later time.

Theft from person – 100 blk. Wynoka St. - between 1/10/17 at 12 PM and 1/10/17 at 2 PM – victim reported her Victoria Secret packages were stolen from her home. Amount of loss is $407.

Burglary – 100 blk. Stewart Ave. - between 1/30/17 at 8 PM and 1/31/17 at 5 PM – victim reported the basement door was forced open. The door frame was damaged. Items taken were costume jewelry, long 18k necklace with matching earrings both with a green colored gem in the center, an 18k broch with a swirling leaf design, and 3 gold 18k bracelets. Loss is $1,550.

Theft from person – 1100 blk. Brownsville Rd. - 2/3/17 at 10:43 AM - a firefighter reported his radio was stolen on an overdose call at a local business. The radio is a yellow Motorola radio.

Overbrook (3204, 3207)

Theft from person – 2100 blk. Walton Ave. - between 8/1/16 at Midnight and 1/21/17 at Midnight - victim reported someone stole her credit cards (Discover, Macy's, JCPenney, & TJ Maxx) and used them to purchase various items. Amount of loss is not known at this time.

Theft from person – 100 blk. Aaron Ave. - between 1/19/17 at 6:50 PM and 2/2/17 at 10:11 AM – victim stated he was contacted by a person from Michigan to cut trees down at a local property. The person from Michigan sent a check to the victim. However, the check was for more than the estimate to cut the trees. The victim withdrew money and sent the remainder of the money to another address in Michigan. The bank later told him the check did not clear. Loss is over $4,600.

St. Clair (1606)

Knoxville (3001)

Theft from person – 200 blk. Arabella St. - between 1/28/17 at 3 PM and 1/30/17 at 9:53 PM – victim reported her firearm was stolen. Amount of loss is unknown. The firearm was a Colt .45. The firearm was stolen with the ammunition, gun case, and paperwork for the firearm. Suspect is believed to be known to the victim.
