Police investigating shooting of man in Knoxville Jan. 25
Zone 3 Officers were sent to an area of Jucunda Street in Knoxville for the report of shots fired at approximately 11:39 a.m. on January 25.
Shortly after, a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound walked into UPMC Mercy Hospital. According to police, the victim and another man were in a vehicle stopped at a stop sign at Jucunda and Grimes streets.
There, the victim in the passenger seat was shot by one of two black males standing at the corner. The driver was uninjured and drove the victim to Mercy.
The victim was reported to be in critical condition at the time with a gunshot wound to the ribs. The suspects fled in an unknown direction and were reported to be wearing gray and black hooded sweatshirts.
The Pittsburgh Police Group Violence Intervention Unit is handling the investigation.
