South Hills Chorale holiday concert

The South Hills Chorale will perform its holiday concert program, “Fa La La Celebration,” on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 16-17 at Westminster Church on Washington Road in Upper St. Clair. Performances start at 7:30 p.m.

Among many selections, the Chorale will present a Festival version of the traditional Welsh classic Deck the Hall, two pieces from George Frideric Handel’s master work The Messiah, a medley of classic holiday songs performed as A Swingin’ Christmas, the lusciously mellow song of peace Pacem, the spritely John Rutter piece Jesus Child, a tale of the season The first Nowell, Ron Nelson’s driving and imperative Glory to God, a layered and decadent version of the quintessential holiday standard O holy night, and many other songs and carols of the season, including a celebratory piece, Candle in the Night honoring Hanukkah, which begins on Christmas Day this year.

Tickets for the holiday concert are $15 and are available by advance sale through chorale members or at the door. Tickets may also be purchased by calling Pat Moraytis at 412-221-9109 or emailing patmoraytis@comcast.net.

The Chorale will hold auditions in January as it begins preparing for a new season. For details, contact Elaine Moore at 412-780-9336, or email her at emoore0869@gmail.com.
