Trunk or Treat Halloween tailgating in South Side alternative knocking on doors

On Halloween, the parking lot of the Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community will be creeping and crawling with trick-or-treaters and their families.

The parking lot will be transformed into a one-stop candy distribution center. Instead of walking door-to-door, kids will walk from car-to-car. The trunks of minivans and station wagons will serve as front porches, decorated for the season and accompanied by costumed folks handing out candy.

“Even if the weather is cold or rainy we will still be open. Inside we are building a fun Halloween maze for the trick-or-treaters,” said Becky Boyer, the church’s director of children and youth ministry. “And there will be coffee and cookies for the adults.”

Trunk-or-Treat will be available during regular trick-or-treat hours, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31 in the parking lot of the Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community.

The Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community is at the corner of 27th and Jane streets in South Side. The 48 and 75 bus lines have stops nearby and parking for cars and bicycles is available on-site.

The church can be reached at 412-481-4010, via email to hotmetal@hotmetalbridge.com, or on the web at http://www.hotmetalbridge.com.
