Allentown Senior Center returns Tuesday, Sept. 6

Hill Top United Methodist Church

It's been two years since a devastating fire at Hill Top United Methodist Church (HUMC), at 631 E. Warrington Avenue, destroyed the entire interior of the church along with the Allentown Senior Center on the ground floor.

Thanks to the HUMC family and two years of hard work, the newly renovated space that is Allentown's "Hilltop" Senior Center is finished and ready to open.

"It's beautiful. A new 'lift' will take our participants upstairs to additional meeting and activity rooms. And new floors, lighting system, kitchen, offices, storage areas and sound system will make all of our activities, programs and services feel extra special. So many people have called to ask when we'll reopen. We're all very excited that we have a definitive date – Tuesday, Sept. 6, the day after Labor Day," According to Cyndie Carioli, Hilltop's coordinator.

Center staff is encouraging everyone who plans to attend that day to call 412-431-0557 x11 to order their free lunch no later than Thursday, Sept. 1. Allentown Senior Center will be closed on Friday, Sept.2.
