Local filmmaker's short films to screen at Pittsburgh Filmmakers

 


Steve “Stevo” Parys’ newest short films, Lightheaded and Breakage, will screen on Tuesday, May 10 at the Pittsburgh Filmmakers’ Film Kitchen’s Melwood Screening Room in Oakland.

A reception starts at 7 p.m., with Mr. Parys’ films, along with the films of two other local filmmakers, screening at 8 p.m. Cast, crewed, and shot entirely in Pittsburgh, both films showcase a uniquely Pittsburgh point of view and show off the city in all its glory.

 Both films have played in numerous film festivals worldwide, Lightheaded winning the Sydney Film Festival’s Audience Award for Best Short and Breakage recently being awarded Best Drama by the Washington PA Film Festival.

 Mr. Parys started his career over 27 years ago as a production assistant on The Silence of the Lambs. Since then, he has worked on more than 40 feature films in the U.S. and Europe, as well as hundreds of commercials, videos, shorts and industrials.

He is currently First Assistant Director on Outsiders, the second season of the TV series being filmed in Pittsburgh. He made his feature film directorial debut with The Chief.

Mr. Parys has previously won the Tapestry Award for The Chief, the Cine Golden Eagle Award for Best Industrial/Best Director, and a ZXZW Festival Audience Award for his short film Reign of the Dead.

 Mr. Parys resides on South Side with his wife, Anne and their cat Strummer.
