Permit parking in S.S.
The Residential Permit Parking program was created as a way for citizens to take control of congested residential streets and ensure that actual property owners have a convenient and safe place to park in their neighborhoods.
It is a citizen driven process, and citizens in South Side have made their voices heard. Contrary to the rumors, we have been working closely with Councilman Bruce Kraus to implement the Residential Permit Parking areas that have been approved in this neighborhood without delay. On a parallel path, we are considering ways to provide parking for the businesses, tech companies and offices that call South Side home.
The South Side is a unique neighborhood with unique challenges. It is a residential area with a large, active business district that is open late into the night. The congestion and conflict that result from this mix are being addressed.
Through the roadmap laid out in the Pittsburgh Sociable City Plan, and the efforts of our nighttime economy coordinator, community and business leaders, and Councilman Bruce Kraus we will make sure that South Side is a neighborhood that is both a safe, attractive location for neighbors and an active, open destination for businesses and patrons. Together, we can make this happen.
