United Way is sponsoring a “Kindergarten Kick-off/Start Strong” Program.

They are looking for volunteers to welcome Kindergarten students on their first day of school on Thursday, Sept. 3, 7:30-8:30 a.m. The goal of this initiative is to demonstrate a positive and caring school culture from day one, therefore promoting strong attendance.

They are looking for volunteers at a number of South Pittsburgh Public Schools including: Grandview PreK-5, Allentown; Pittsburgh Concord K-5, Carrick; Pittsburgh Whittier K-5, Mount Washington; Pittsburgh Roosevelt PreK-5, Carrick; and, Arlington PreK-8, Arlington.
