South Sider to celebrate her 100th birthday

Martha Lech

Martha Lech, a life-long resident of Enon Way in South Side, and a life-long member of Prince of Peace Parish (St. Adalbert's) celebrates her 100th birthday on August 25. She is the only surviving member of a family of 13 children.

John, her husband of 63 years, died in 2003 at the age of 89. She has two sons: Jack (Barbara) and Bobby (Patty); three grandchildren: John (Diane), Steve (Jodi), and Wendy Lech Ferguson (Robert); and four great-grandchildren: Johni Sue, Jack, Billy and Mackenzie Lech.

Her love of travel included frequent visits to New York City and Myrtle Beach, as well as vacations in Hawaii, and throughout the United States and Europe.

She remains in extremely good health. Her last hospitalization occurred 67 years ago for the birth of her son Bobby. According to Martha, the secret to her longevity is a strong Catholic faith.

Family and friends will celebrate this momentous occasion with cocktails and a dinner reception at Calabria's Restaurant in Castle Shannon.
