Love Your Block grant program deadline extended

Applications have been extended for the fall 2014 Love Your Block grant award program.

Applications will now be available until Friday, July 18. In addition, there will be an informational session Wednesday, July 9, from 6-7 p.m. at the City-County Building, CitiStat conference room 646, 6th floor, Grant Street side, 414 Grant St ., Pittsburgh, PA, 15219, to assist interested applicants. First-time applicants and past grantees are encouraged to attend.

In this round, the Love Your Block program will grant 14 organizations up to $1,000 in funds and donated supplies for a neighborhood block improvement project that mobilizes community volunteers. Projects will be implemented from September 15 to November 15. Applications are available online at http://www.pittsburghpa.gov/servepgh/forms/loveyourblock/grantapplication.

The informational session will give prospective organizations a chance to ask questions about the process, inquire about resources available in addition to the mini-grant, learn how to identify the owner of vacant parcels and more.

Applicants for the fall 2014 program must be a qualified nonprofit organization or have the support of a nonprofit fiscal agent, and the impacted area must be within city limits. Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on July 18; late applications will not be accepted. Applicants will be notified of their status by August. A mandatory grantee orientation will take place in late August.
