Community Cornfest lines up entertainment and ATV simulator

The annual Community Cornfest in Carrick’s Phillips Park will be on Saturday, Aug. 23, from noon to 6 p.m. with more than 50 venders.

The Cornfest committee announced the finalization of the daylong entertainment. Traditionally beginning with the Carrick High School Marching Band, the line-up follows with the Nepalese Dancers, Cathasaigh, Circle Three & Stationwagon, Bhutanese Dancers, Jimmy Adler’s 3 CAPA bands, and Radiation.

The Cornfest committee notes additional registration is available to non-profit food vendors, vendors of other commodities, and organizations. More information is available by emailing carrickcommunitycouncil@gmail.com.

The Pennsylvania Off-Highway Vehicle Association (PaOHV) will bring an ATV simulator with education material regarding proper registration, use, and handling of off road vehicles.

The problem with illegal dirt bikes and unregistered ATVs on Carrick’s streets is being addressed in part by proposed legislation in Harrisburg. Registration would treat dirt bikes like ATVs and snowmobiles as an officially recognized recreational user. Currently dirt bikes are not classified in the motor vehicle code. More information can be found at http://www.paohv.org.
