Inaugural Get Outside and Learn Day at North Park on Saturday, June 21

The inaugural Get Outside and Learn Day – or GOAL Day – will take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, at the North Park Boathouse. The event is free and open to adults and children of all skills and abilities.

“Get Outside and Learn Day is an exciting, new event that will give people of all ages the opportunity to experience outdoor activities they may have never tried before,” said Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald. “If you’ve ever wanted to learn to kayak, mountain bike, fish, paddle board or orienteer, you’ll have the chance to do all of that and more at GOAL Day. Organizations from around our region will be on hand to provide information and engage attendees in numerous outdoor activities.”

Activities and participating organizations are listed at http://www.alleghenycounty.us/spev/goalday.aspx. All activities will take place along North Park Lake and North Fork of Pine Creek between the boathouse and Walter Road, unless otherwise noted.

Tennis Court Road will be closed to vehicular traffic between the boathouse and Walter Road during the event. Participants should park in the boathouse or Rose Barn parking lots on Pearce Mill Road.

Maps and schedules will be available at the county information booth at the end of the boathouse parking lot next to the lake. Note that distance running will begin at 8:30 a.m.
