Beltzhoover man arrested for selling drugs in Hilltop


Zone 3 Police Officers arrested two Beltzhoover residents on charges related to selling heroin on May 31.

At approximately 12:34 p.m. on May 31 in the 800 block of Climax Street, officers stopped Dewayne Chatfield, Jr., a 28-year-old black male, after observing him make a drug transaction with Michelle Szulkowski, a 35-year-old white female.

The investigation was precipitated by numerous community complaints.

Officers confiscated 100 stamp bags of heroin marked “ALWAYS GOOD,” two clonazepam (treats seizures, panic disorder, and anxiety) pills, a hypodermic needle and $320 from Ms. Szulkowski. A total of $2,340 and three cell phones were confiscated from Mr. Chatfield at the scene.

A search of his residence recovered an additional $8,295 and nine more stamped bags of heroin. In a child’s book bag police found multiple bundles of heroin and additional paraphernalia.

As the investigation police found there were two juvenile children living in Mr. Chatfield’s residence he had left alone in order to conduct the drug transaction.

Charges include possession of controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance, and possession/use of paraphernalia. Mr. Chatfield was also charged with driving with a suspended license and two counts of child endangerment.
