So. Side council recruiting new community members

 


To maintain South Side’s reputation as one of the best neighborhood’s in Pittsburgh, the South Side Community Council of Pittsburgh is looking for new members and current members to renew their membership.

Membership helps to support the work of the South Side Community Council. As a non-profit, non-partisan charitable organization, the SSCC is working to help make the neighborhood a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant community for all who live, work and visit our diverse urban neighborhood. Member’s contributions directly improve their neighborhood.

SSCC’s work can be seen throughout the South Side--they work to improve public parks and green spaces, remove graffiti from property and trash from our streets, and much more. The community council works to keep South Side safe by attending and being vocal at various meetings related to safety, parking, late night entertainment, etc.

Each year, the SSCC hosts the annual Historic South Side Home Tour and the South Side Garden Tour. The council is working to build positive relationships among residents and businesses; voicing collective concerns and issues to government and other local officials.

SSCC works with local community and business groups as well as other non-profit groups to facilitate volunteer work, grants, government intervention, and more, in order to improve the neighborhood and assist other nearby communities and organizations.

Membership is $10; senior’s over age 65 is $5.

The South Side Community Council’s membership meeting is on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Brashear Center, 2005 Sarah Street.
