Spirits Moving workout at S.S. Presbyterian gym
Pastor Kathy Hamilton-Vargo is welcoming new participants to “Spirits Moving” Workout & Play in the gym of South Side Presbyterian Church on Thursday evenings 7 to 8 p.m ., starting May 8, sharing breath and movement disciplines, body prayers, and play for the integration of mind, body, and spirit.
These can yield greater joy, health, creativity, and power for the work of love, peacemaking, justice, and faith in our injured world. Pastor Hamilton-Vargo developed most of these practices over years of prayerful research and practice, including the ancient Chinese practice Qigong; some she learned from other pioneers.
A member of the Sacred Dance Guild for more than 26 years, she brings a breadth of experience to share. Wear clothes that allow for free movement and bring soft soled (like tai chi or ballet) or tennis shoes. There are a few yoga mats that can be borrowed, or bring one or a towel for some exercises on the floor. No previous experience necessary; people of all levels of health welcome.
The South Side Presbyterian Church Gym is at S. 20th and Sarah streets, 1926 Sarah, South Side. A $5 donation per class is suggested for each participant.
